I migliori album della storia del rock

ciao a tutti, se vi può interessare ho stilato una lista dei miei album preferiti divisi per anno, limitandomi come criteri a:

-10 scelte per ogni annata (per alcuni anni tipo il 1970 o il 1994 c'era l'imbarazzo della scelta ed è stata dura scartare certe cose, in altri casi è stato difficile trovarne 10 degni di nota);

-mi riferisco al solo ambito "rock e derivati" (anche alcune cose di elettronica/ambient che comunque in senso lato possono esserne considerate collegate), escludendo dunque il jazz e la classica (questo solo per convenzione, sono due macrogeneri che ascolto moltissimo, ma ho deciso di limitarmi al rock...e comunque in moltissimi dischi che nomino ci sono influenze e contaminazioni da quei campi);

-inizio dal '67 perchè lo considero grossomodo il momento in cui è iniziata una vera e propria rivoluzione artistica nella musica contemporanea, con una sostanziale biforcazione del canale classico dell'entertainment standard nei due canali paralleli "mainstream" e "alternative" (biforcazione che continua tuttora)

-mi fermo al 2008 perchè comunque è provvisoria e sempre in fase di elaborazione e gli ultimi anni non sono stati ricchissimi di capolavori

prego non c'è di che, sugli Stones e Neil Young mi spiace ma sono un patito di entrambi , soprattutto del canadese che considero il miglior cantautore di sempre (o comunque nell'olimpo dei più grandi insieme a Nick Drake, Zappa, Dylan, Wyatt, Brian Eno, Lou Reed e pochissimi altri)...il periodo '68-'72 di Jagger e soci (fino a Exile) è a mio avviso leggendario, così come il '69-'75 del buon vecchio Neil, semplicemente un disco più bello dell'altro...però mi rendo conto che a chi non li ama troppo la lista appaia un po' troppo inflazionata dei loro nomi.

"Meddle" non è il disco migliore dei Floyd, palma che per me spetta a "Atom Heart Mother", tuttavia la sola Echoes gli fa guadagnare la presenza nella mia top 10 del 1971, anche se ci sono grandi esclusi tipo "Songs of Love and Hate" di Leonard Cohen, il da te giustamente citato "Islands", ma anche un "Pawn Hearts" dei Van der Graaf generator che la meriterebbero.

Sui Queen sono consapevole anch'io che sono tremendamente sopravvalutati, e che dal '78 in poi hanno fatto dischi abominevoli...però Sheer Heart Attack e i due successivi per quanto mi riguarda sono ancora ottimi album, al di là della voce di Freddie e della chitarra di May a livello compositivo sono ancora in gran forma, basti sentire "Death on two legs", "Bohemian Rapsody"...

ottime le tue scelte, specialmente "Red" per me uno dei dischi da isola deserta e il Live at Leeds, probabilmente il miglior live rock di sempre. Henry Cow davvero geniali. I Police li sto riscoprendo ultimamente.

Bell'elenco, purtroppo molti degli album che hai citato non li conosco o li conosco poco.

Io aggiungerei gli olandesi The Gathering, qualunque album a partire da Mandylion del 1995.

guarda, il 1991 è un'annata davvero ricca di capolavori, a mio avviso dischi come Laughing Stock, Spiderland o Loveless sono anni luce superiori ad Achtung e probabilmente a qualsiasi cosa abbiano mai fatto gli U2 in tutta la carriera. E non ho grossi preconcetti anche perchè come vedi war e joshua li ho piazzati

È quello che dicevo, dal 2005 ad oggi il buon Joe ha inciso altri 3 album in studio, 1 doppio dal vivo e non so che altro

Il che ovviamente non mi impedisce di ascoltare anche qualcos'altro, ho recentemente "Scoperto" Linking Park dei quali conoscevo solo il nome ed ho comprato 3 CD. Per coloro ai quali piace il genere, consiglio vivamente anche l'ultimo dal vivo dei Prodigy

Per me Satch è un ottimo artigiano della chitarra, ma gli album che vale davvero la pena ascoltare sono quelli tra il 1987 e il 1995, successivamente non fa altro che ripetersi e autocitarsi senza grande originalità.

Sui Linkin' Park preferisco non esprimermi

Prodigy assolutamente godibili ma non è il tipo di musica elettronica che preferisco

Come sono diversi i gusti...a me paiono più godibili i LP dei Prodigy, che ascolto volentieri ma a piccole dosi (Anche perché l'ascolto a mio parere ha senso solo se ad alto volume).

Dissento su Satriani: a parte un paio di flop, "Super colossal" e l'ultimo "Black swans and wormhole wizards" mi paiono eccellenti e non mi stufano

Per l'anno prossimo è prevista l'uscita di un nuovo album dei Judas Priest (Che ho avuto la fortuna di vedere dal vivo in giugno a Monaco )

Mitici Judas! Uno dei più importanti gruppi heavy di sempre. Peccato però che siamo nel 2011 Dal vivo per carità sono ancora tosti, ma ormai il loro l'hanno detto tra gli anni '70 e '80, con un grandioso canto del cigno in Painkiller (1990) con un formidabile Scott Travis alla batteria.

Eh lo so...ma a suo tempo non ho avuto la possibilità, meglio tardi che mai. Halford è ancora forte, e l'ultimo album "Nostradamus" è a mio parere una vera rock opera, una sinfonia
